[edit] Introduction
FOSDEM is probably one of the largest gatherings of Open Source Developers and Projects in Europe. In 2011, the event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 5-6 February in Brussels, Belgium.
The MySQL Project will be present as follows:
- We will have a Developer Room titled "MySQL and Friends", which will provide a venue for talks about MySQL and related projects. Each session will last for 20 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. The MySQL Developer Room will only be open on Saturday, 5th of February, from 13:00-19:00. The FOSDEM organizers granted us room H.2213 with a capacity of 100 seats (in the building "H"). It is equipped with a video projector with VGA cable and Internet connectivity (wireless only).

[edit] Call for participation
The organizers are looking for your support and contribution! In addition to employees from Oracle/MySQL, we would also like to encourage and invite members of the MySQL Community to contribute to making the MySQL project's presence a success.
Here is how you can help:
[edit] Submit an interesting talk
We are looking for covering a wide range of topics that attract both MySQL DBAs as well as application developers that work with MySQL as their database of choice. Are you developing a new storage engine or other plugin? Do you want to share your experiences and best practices in administering or deploying MySQL servers? Did you develop a new method to scale a MySQL setup? Let us and the audience know about it! You can submit your talk proposal via this submission form.
The deadline for turning in your proposal is Sunday, 26th of December, 2010, after which there will be a voting and rating period to identify the most interesting and attractive topics.
[edit] Record/transcribe sessions
For people that could not make it to FOSDEM or any of the sessions, it would be nice to be able to provide video recordings or transcriptions (e.g. live blogging) from these talks. We're looking for volunteers to record the sessions! If you have a video camera or are an expert blogger, we'd like to hear from you.
