Sun Contributor Agreement
[edit] Introduction
The Sun Contributor Agreement (PDF) or "SCA" gives Sun Microsystems and the contributor joint copyright interests in the code. The contributor retains copyrights while also granting those rights to Sun as the project sponsor. It supersedes the previously used MySQL Contributor License Agreement.
More information about the SCA can be found on the following pages:
- http://www.sun.com/software/opensource/contributor_agreement.jsp (FAQ)
- https://sca.dev.java.net/ (Signatories list)
You only need to sign the SCA once in order to cover all changes that you might contribute to any Sun-sponsored open-source project. If you've already signed the SCA in order to contribute to a Sun-sponsored project then you do not need to sign it again in order to contribute to other projects requiring the SCA.
If you have previously signed the MySQL Contributor License Agreement (CLA), you must now sign and return the SCA instead. All contributions to the MySQL project from now on require that the contributor sign and return the SCA.
To be able to store the SCA and match it to you, we require that you have a MySQL.com user account. This account gives you access to important MySQL development resources, so it is almost essential to have this account anyway if you are contributing to MySQL development. On the SCA form, enter “mysql.com” for the project name/project website, and your MySQL.com account handle (your e-mail address) for your username.
A completed, signed SCA can be remitted for acceptance in any of the following three means (in order of preference):
- E-mail - a scanned or photographed copy of your completed, signed agreement to sun_ca [at] sun [dot] com
(Your scan or photograph should be of the complete page and should have a resolution of at least 3 megapixels/180 dpi) - Fax - a completed, signed copy to: +1-408-715-2540
- Postal mail - a completed, signed copy to:
Nancy Williams c/o Sun Microsystems, Inc. 4150 Network Circle M/S USCA15-108 Santa Clara, CA 95054 United States
Note that submitting your agreement by email or fax has the fastest turnaround time from reception to approval and makes it easier for us to keep track of your submission.
