Navicat is a MySQL management and development software from PremiumSoft, known for its combination of power and ease of use. It is also noted for its Explorer-like user interface and multiple databases connection capabilities for local and remote MySQL .

Navicat allows database administrators and developers to monitor, manage and develop MySQL. It is available for the Mac, Windows and Linux platforms. Navicat for PostgreSQL was released in 2005.

In 2000, PremiumSoft noticed the lack of an easy-to-use commercial MySQL GUI in the market. They then started to develop its flagship product "MySQL Studio" which was the name of its Initial version. The name was changed to Navicat in 2003 and was enhanced to provide a set of integrated admin, data manipulation and reporting tools that allow developers and database administrators to quickly develop and manage their MySQL databases. Navicat's design is centered on enhancing the productivity of the MySQL users.

PremiumSoft started to offer Navicat PostgreSQL version in 2005.

Since the first release of Navicat in 2002, Navicat has received 342,829 downloads from Download.com

Navicat is a graphical tool for MySQL that features an intuitive interface and provides a set of useful tool to manage, backup/ restore, import/ export data, synchronize database and connect to remote MySQL server, etc.

The software, which is currently available in 8 major languages such as English, German, French and Japanese. Navicat new major version 8 for Windows and version 7 for Mac OS X were released in June 2007.

Navicat Lite version is a free version of the software that was made available in Oct 2007. Navicat was an exclusively commercial software package since its release in 2002.

The Lite version has fewer features than the full version. A comparison of all Navicat products can be found at: http://www.navicat.com/feature.html.

One notable difference from other MySQL GUI Lite versions is that Navicat supports HTTP and SSH Tunneling which allow users to connect to remote MySQL.
